The verb "pulang" (go home, go back, return), "pergi" (go) and other words with more or less the same meanings can be used both in either formal or colloquial expressions, but in colloquial expressions Indonesian often omit the word which means "pulang" and "pergi".

- Pak Amir akan berangkat ke Kalimantan. => Pak Amir mau ke Kalimantan. = Mr. Amir is going to go/depart to Kalimantan.
- Saya harus pulang ke Solo. => Saya harus ke Solo. = I have to go home/return to Solo.
- Tante Deice sudah kembali ke Manado. => Tante Deice sudah ke Manado. = Aunt Deice has returned to Manado.
